Amy Affelt is Director, Database Research Worldwide, at Compass Lexecon, a global economic consultancy, where she finds, analyzes, and transforms information and data into knowledge deliverables for PhD economists who testify as experts in litigation. She is a frequent writer and conference speaker on Big Data, Internet of Things, adding value to information, evaluating information integrity and quality, and marketing information services. She is the author of a book, "The Accidental Data Scientist: Big Data Applications and Opportunities for Librarians and Information Professionals" (Information Today, 2015), and is the Big Data columnist for EContent Magazine.  She has a BA in history, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a master’s degree in library and information science from Dominican University.  She is a Fellow of the Special Libraries Association.
