Cary Gordon

Founder
The Cherry Hill Company

Cary is devoted to empowering libraries to enhance and extend their services through the use of technology, and he is focused on helping them to adopt open source software to that end. He is also very active in the Drupal community, having served on the board of the Drupal Association. A degreed librarian, Cary has taught and presented at conferences for the American Library Association, the California Library Association, LITA, ASIS&T, Code4Lib, Internet Librarian, CiL, Access (Canada) and NISO.

Cary is a pioneer in building library websites, having built the first four iterations of the California State Library's sites. He has led the Cherry Hill Company from building basic sites to data driven sites to content management systems to service delivery platforms.

Along the way, Cary has become a librarian and an advocate for free and open-source software, having been an early adopter of the Linux operating system and the Drupal CMS. He loves helping to build strong communities, and has served the Drupal Association as a board member and events manager.

An avid cook, Cary enjoys cooking and eating. To help ensure that everyone eats, he is a long-time supporter of the Los Angeles Food Bank.

He strongly supports the Electronic Frontier Foundation, the Software Freedom Law Center and other organizations devoted to equitable access to resources and information.
