Forrest Foster is the Information Commons / Access Services Coordinator at C.G. O’Kelly Library - Winston-Salem State University, where he is greatly involved in instructing information literacy classes, supervising library personnel and presenting to the university community about social media/web 2.0 creations and practices. Mr. Foster earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from East Carolina University and a Masters of Library Science degree from North Carolina Central University. His librarianship experience includes work at East Carolina University’s J.Y. Joyner library; North Carolina A&T State University’s Bluford Library; and Winston-Salem State University’s C. G. O’Kelly Library. He has presented at numerous workshops, conferences and has also been published by Journal of Learning Spaces, Computers in Libraries, Diverse Issues in Higher Education and Scholastic Coach and Athletic Director. In 2010, Mr. Foster received the Extraordinary Man/Woman Faculty Award which is awarded to faculty members who exemplify characteristics of being outstanding leaders and role models for WSSU students voted by WSSU’s student body. His research interests include information literacy but more specifically, the impact of libraries on student learning outcomes, African-American librarians as role models, emerging technologies in librarianship and issues in collegiate athletics such as graduation rates and the imprecise recruitment process.
