Jim Tchobanoff
Jim received his BS in Chemistry in 1968 and his MALS in 1971 from the University of Michigan. He interned at the University of Tennessee Medical Units in Memphis, TN as part of a National Library of Medicine / Medical Library Association internship program. In 1972, he became a Clinical Medical Librarian in the Medical Library at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. In 1976, he moved to Minneapolis to become the Manager of the Technical Information Center at Pillsbury R&D, where he worked until 2000. After taking a year off, he started his own business, doing literature and patent searching + some library management consulting work. Jim is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Medical Library Association and the Special Libraries Association. Jim has been active in SLA at the Chapter, Division and Association level, was named an SLA Fellow in 1991 and received the John Cotton Dana Award for career service to the Association and the profession in 2010.
