Dana Deseck-Piazzon has a MLIS from the Univ. of Washington iSchool and a paralegal certificate. Currently she is a reference librarian with Cadence Group at the DOJ Library. With two DOJ librarians they developed an AI course/class called “Welcome to the World of AI” and have presented it, making it available to anyone in the agency. She has held positions in other federal agency libraries and research entities, including at the National Library of Education and the EPA’s Office of Research of Development. Experienced in both technical services and research, she believes that librarians have an essential role in guiding generative AI literacy.
Dana also worked for the legal technology company Uncourt as a Data Specialist allowing her to gain an understanding in building a data repository for a legal company and the variances in state legal data availability, including attorney bar data, dockets, etc. She is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), serving twice on the Annual Meeting Program Committee and is a past member of SLA.
