Elaine Lasda is the Strategic Initiatives Coordinator for the University at Albany, State University of New York. Previously, she spent 15 years as Subject Librarian for Social Welfare, Geronotolgy and Research Impact. Ms. Lasda is the editor and co-author of the monograph The New Metrics: Practical Assessment of Research Impact (Emerald, 2019). She is also writes the Metrics Mashup column for the Online Searcher portion of Computers in Libraries magazine. Ms. Lasda has a long record of service in the Special Libraries Association and the New York Library Association, holding many leadership positions throughout the years. Currently she serves as the leader of the SLA Fellows as part of the merger between SLA and ASIS&T She was also a founding member of the SLA Data Caucus. She is the 2015 recipient of the State University of New York President’s and Chancellor’s Excellence in Librarianship Awards. Ms. Lasda holds a master’s level Certificate of Advanced Study in Data Science from Syracuse University, an M.L.S. from the University at Albany, and a B.A. in History from SUNY Oswego.
