Library Strategist

Elaine Lasda is the Library Strategist for the University at Albany, State University of New York. She was appointed to this position during a restructuring where she transitioned from 15 years as Subject Librarian for Social Welfare, Geronotolgy and Research Impact. Ms. Lasda is the editor and co-author of the monograph The New Metrics: Practical Assessment of Research Impact (Emerald, 2019). She is also writes the Metrics Mashup column for the Online Searcher portion of Computers in Libraries magazine. Ms. Lasda has a long record of service in the Special Libraries Association and the New York Library Association, holding many leadership positions throughout the years. She is also a founding member of the SLA Data Caucus. She is the 2015 recipient of the State University of New York President’s and Chancellor’s Excellence in Librarianship Awards. Ms. Lasda holds a master’s level Certificate of Advanced Study in Data Science from Syracuse University, an M.L.S. from the University at Albany, and a B.A. in History from SUNY College at Oswego.
