Picture of Michael O'ConnorMichael is the Research Data Librarian at Queen's University Belfast. This role involves teaching, training, and advising on all aspects of Research Data Management to staff and students across the University. He has worked in Open Research for several years, but also has wide-ranging Library experience working in Special Collections and Specialist Subject Support, as well as having worked in the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI). Michael has been the Chair of NIPR Board (The National Collection of Northern Ireland Publications Resource) and represented the University Library on CONUL Research Group (Consortium of National and University Libraries). Within the University, Michael is involved in several committees and groups, including Digital Preservation, Research Data Management and Open Research; he also is a representative on several Faculty Research Ethics Committees. Recently, Michael has been awarded the FAIR-IMPACT Support Programme for Research Performing Organisations, awarded by the Digital Curation Centre, University of Glasgow. He is also the recipient of several awards (Allen & Overy Award 2016, Biggar Award in Educational Studies Ulster University 2019, & Shared E-Resources Information FORUM (SHERIF) Student Award 2020) for his research-based Masters on Library & Information Management & research-based project into Hidden Collections in libraries and archives in UK and Ireland.
